Ship Hydrostatics & Stability
The most common analysis needed by any marine vehicle designer. Stability analysis programs are very good tools for solving any floating thing. Some of them can handle harder tasks such as multihulls and damaged stability conditions. They can also help for dealing longitudinal strength problems. In general they are easy to learn, use and understand for any naval architect - marine engineer.

Archimedes Archimedes is a low cost, benchmarked, software utility for generating hydrostatics and cross curves for arbitrary floating bodies. It employs a robust engine for calculating the submerged volume of complex cross sections and as such can handle singularities such as outline crossing, hollow sections, coincident sections and sections with zero area (for defining hull/appendage limits of length).

Autohydro Autohydro is a complete hydrostatics and stability calculations program for naval architects, ship designers and marine engineers and reports the reaction of the model to various conditions, such as a loading configuration, a damage situation, conditions involving outside forces, wind or high speed turning momentum or some combination of these. Autohydro can also be used to obtain hull form characteristics and capacities.

Dfhydro Dfhydro is the naval architecture calculations module of Defcar system. The vessel hydrostatic and stability characteristics are calculated, undamaged or damaged, as in calm water as in waves of any length and height. Dfhydro allows to define the geometry of a vessel by means of the hull cross sections. These cross sections can be defined by three ways: in a numerical way with points of an offset table importing a dxf file importing directly the hull geometry defined in the Dfform module.

GHS GHS, the world-famous PC-based simulator of vessels in fluids and fluids in vessels for ships, yachts, docks, drilling plaforms, buoys, tanks, etc. In addition, GHS calculates tank characteristics: volume and surface properties of any tank, pool, basin, etc. Also does: longitudinal strength, shear and bending moments, stress and deflection due to weight and buoyancy forces. Includes ground reaction: buoyancy arising from points of ground contact. Also available: grain shift calculations involving migrating void pockets.

HST HST program is the Wolfson Unit's Hydrostatics, Stability and Tank Capacities Program allowing both the definition of hull geometry and also the calculation of the standard hydrostatic and stability parameters of a vessel as well as tank capacity data.

Hydro Hydro is a Windows-based PC program for calculation of flotation and righting moments of an elongated floating body, such as the hull of a boat or a ship. The applications include: evaluations of initial and ultimate stability and flotation, and of heel angles for capsizing and downflooding assessment of effects of design alterations on the above properties determination of sail-carrying ability (for sailing vessels), of tank volumes and ullage curves, of ballast volume and center of gravity, and of hull structural weights and centroids simulation of stability tests.

Hydromax The Hydromax stability and strength module provides fast, graphical and interactive calculation of intact and damaged stability for all types of Maxsurf designs. Hydromax provides with a range of powerful analysis capabilities to handle all types of stability and strength calculations. A tank calibration option is provided to give detailed volume and CG characteristics of all tanks. Hydromax includes intact and damaged options for a range of analysis methods including upright hydrostatics, large angle stability, equilibrium analysis, KN tables and cross curves, limiting KG and longitudinal strength analysis.

Hyyss Hyyss is a low cost full stability software for intact and damage stability. It includes a module for weight curves, propeller and resistance selection and estimate by holtrop method for resistance, runs inside Excel and you can model any shape (hull) accurate. A great stability tool actually.

Maat

Maat is an integrated naval arcitecture software. Some capabilities are; Lines fairing, Surface fairing, Creation of surfaces including breaks in continuity of form, Automatic creation of a lines plan as well as Calculation of multiple stability and Stability study including multiple waterplanes...

Maritech Maritech is a software suite for naval architectural analyses. These tools have been developed, tested and used for over 15 years in various marine design applications encompassing commercial and military programs for ships, yachts, workboats, catamarans, SES, and SWATH, the products have been the workhorse for all projects. There are four modules for hydrostatics, intact stability, damaged stability and stability test.

Pc-shcp Pc-shcp is a complete professional package for the calculation of stability and longitudinal strength. The program allows you to define hull geometry, perform calculations, produce graphics and print reports. Pc-shcp is the fifth generation of the 'Industry standard, Ship Hull Characteristics Program, for personal computers and permits you to quickly and easily define and analyse the most complex hull forms and to assess their damage stability according to either the deterministic or probabilistic approach.

Phaser Phaser is a hydrostatics & stability plug-in for Rhinoceros. The main features include: Proven, accurate hydrostatics engine, Righting arm calculations at a range of heel angles, free to trim, Tabular and Plotted output to Excel..

ShipHull2000 Shiphull 2000 is a full-featured hydrostatics/stabilitly program for the PC that performs virtually all hydrostatic related calculations that are needed by the naval architect. Shiphull 2000 contains advanced hull form and appendage modeling capabilities, and features a menu based user interface. Calculation routines include hydrostatics, trim lines, longitudinal strength, floodable length, limiting drafts, intatct and damaged stability evaluation. Static stability calculations optionally include the effect of the center of gravity shift of tank fluids from the upright condition.

Sic Hyrostatic Analysis The Sic hydrostatic analysis application makes it possible to perform basic, simple, daily design tasks and naval calculations with an intuitive and flexible user interface in Catia v5. As a CAA product, Sic Hydrostatic Analysis can be used in cooperation with other products such as Generative Shape Design and Strucure Preliminary Layout.
